Sacraments
Baptism
Usually celebrated after 12:30 mass on Sunday. Parents requesting Baptism for their child should contact the parish priest to arrange a meeting. At this meeting they should bring the full copy of the child's birth certificate.
First Confession, Confirmation and First Communion
Celebrated between Lent of Primary Three and Eastertide of Primary Four. Parents must request these sacraments from the Parish Priest and not the school. Children should be registered with the Parish by the end of September in Primary Three. The local primary school will complete the religious education programme with the children while the celebration of the sacraments will take place as a parish celebration.
Marriage
Any couple wising to celebrate their marriage in St. Gabriel’s must contact the parish Priest at least six months in advance and arrange to complete the necessary pre-nuptial programme.
Sacrament of the Sick
If a family member is seriously ill or about to be admitted to hospital for a serious operation you can request that they receive the anointing of the Sacrament of the Sick. Simply contact one of the priests to arrange a home visit, or, if in hospital, request a visit from the hospital chaplain by approaching the Ward Staff Nurse.
Funerals
The parish community joins in prayerful support for bereaved families by sharing in the celebration of the requiem mass for deceased parishioners. Arrangements for funerals can be made by contacting the Parish Priest.
